Vote.

I want to get a feel for what I can expect for Aion.

This is not about what you WANT, this is about what you think you can reasonably expect from the group of people that post here.
Based on the outcome of Warhammer I don't expect this to become a Hardcore guild. I expect us to be either a small group of friends that play together, or just come and go as you please casual. If this is the case, I don't expect to be a guild at all. I expect members who are casual to stick with each other and I expect hardcore people to move on to progression guilds that are going to put in the work.

I just want to walk into the game with reasonable expectations.

Can't we be somewhere in between serious hardcore and casual?

Being a respectable guild with members that play a considerable amount of time is attainable. I mean, personally I know I work 50-60 hours a week and I can't put 40 hours a week into the game. On the other hand, I usually play 3-4 hours a night on weekdays and 5-6 a day on weekends, for a total of around 25 a week. There's still quite a bit that can be accomplished in this middle ground, I don't think its fair to rule that out. Plus, I'm sure we'll absorb talented players from this game, we'll just have to keep stringent recruitment standards and have you and Dervin piss on any morons that come by looking for a free ride.

I put other.

I think "small" is relative. It looks as if this may actually generate a mass exodus from WOW. So I think we will be a small (10 to 20) group of friends who manages to rope in some competent players from our server. I would like to see us with something like 50 to 75 players. Knowing that perhaps 40 will play consistently. It would be nice to have a chill group that wants to play though the content of the game. But has realistic expectations. Seriously, the worst thing ever in WAR was when people were freaking the fuck out when we were the highest ranked guild on teh server for a month.

If we go in realizing that it will take us a couple months to get on track and see what is what. I could see myself play 20 to 30 hours a week. Depending on how much others are on. If people are online i will be more inclined to be on longer.

PS. Nex is not allowed in ANY leadership role of any kind or I am not interested in being in the same guild. Nex I has love for you, but I wont go down that road again.

Aion PvE is almost 100% 6 players. PvP you can do with however many, but usually as members of a larger zone raid. The only things that require 30+ people are a few of the world bosses & sieging enemy held points/castles/whatever. Maybe 1.5 will add some raid content? i havnt heard, but I doubt it.

That said, Id be happy with even 10 players to hang out with, but expect about 15-35+ depending on the usual variables.

If I play this game, I'd be expecting a smaller crew, maybe not everyone plays a ton, but when they do play, they play well, and know their class. If you guys get a decent group into this, I might check it out... Or I might just sit on the bench and watch for a bit if MO beta gets going, but that's coming along pretty slowly right now. I really loved Lineage 2. I hate the character models, but those AZNs know how to do hardcore PvP. Although I'm sure this will be toned down considerably from the level of grinding/loss that was L2 PvP.
I *still* hate Brett Favre.

LOL you wish. Heres the pvp ranking system:

Edit* the required positions tab, that is limit of players allowed at that rank, per faction, per server.

Well good, they're doing a bit of a ladder system then. That's best. Lineage 2 also included straight up XP loss and possible item loss on death though, which made one night of castle siege often cost you 2-3 weeks of grind time to make up. Which kinda hurt, but at the same time... it made it really MATTER.

i hope that the keep sieges don't turn into the warhammer thing where the offesne only attacks undefended places
Reality is that which when we cease to believe in it still exists.

There are specific reward/gainful awards for attacking a place that is defended, not that you have a choice really, as the 3rd faction is NPC and not player controlled.

Depending on whether my transfer to San diego goes through, I'll be able to log quite a few hours. If it does, then who knows. Either way, we should keep it small and leet. Special forces shit on the battlefield. I remember back at wow launch, there was a guild on my original server called "Low Red Moon", and when that group of 20 guys showed up at Tarren Mill, you knew you were gonna get rolled. I would expect us to be every bit as competitive as we were in WAR. Anything less is a travesty.

The fact that I remember the name of that guild after 5 years is a testament to their impact on early pvp on that server.

ACTUALLY... quite a few. I get people messaging me all the time. Mostly good. Some people think we were the biggest bunch of assholes ever in a video game.

Lucretius I thought you said you were a philosophy major. Do I remember this correctly?

I voted other.

People here will always be elitist, it comes with the territory and once you've assumed that role it's tough to give it up. However most of us can't crunch out 100 hours a week now days. I suspect the guild will be both a tight nit of friends, and skilled players of various backgrounds. I for one have no intention of the same burnout I experienced in War, I'll play 20-60 hours a week as my schedule allows assuming that I have fun. Anymore tbh it gets harder and harder to stick with MMO's. I haven't been actively playing any for quite some time now. If I reach the point where I feel that Aion ceases to be enjoyable I won't login. I'd rather spend my time/money on a good book. I mention this fact, because I suspect i'm not the only one that has/will experience this. Pretty much everybody here has a decade+ in game experience, quite a few of us have that much just in MMO's. People change, and untill we unite in a common goal it's impossible to judge exactly where everybody is at.

If your looking for super hardcore progression guild, I'd honestly look elsewhere. If you want skilled reliable players, and can thrive in the atmosphere people here project stick around and you will do well.

*edit*
Btw, 'elo again ladies.

We did a pretty good job in Warhammer. RL shit happened to a guild leader. Oh well.

We had plenty of accomplishments in WAR on Bechafen.

I guess the fact that shit happens means we should never try again as a team right? Negative much?

Im not denying the fact that we bailed on WAR after guild leadership vanished. But we were doing great that first month. The game ended up sucking sack and being boring as fuck. Nobody to blame for that shit but Mythic. People aren't going to keep paying for a game that fucking sucks ass and needs more polish, which is precisely why WAR is dying a painful death.
