If you could bring three famous dead people back to life, who would it be? I would pick 1. Kurt Cobain 2. Jimi Hendrix 3. Tupac Shakur Most of these people dead too young. Edited by Voyevoda, Jul 15 2009, 07:19 AM.

All musicians? From the last 30 years? Seriously? Holy shit you're a young'un. There are so many thousands of people through the history of this world that would have far, far, FAR more to contribute if we could bring them back to life than those three. Besides, Tupac isn't even dead yet. Muhammed for one. Christ for another. Actually, Saul of Tarsus (Paul) would probably be more important than Christ, since really, Jesus didn't even come close to inventing Christianity. Paul did the most of it. Then again, you could grab a guy like Zoroaster whose principles were copied by the Christians as they were trying to figure out exactly what their new religion was all about. How bout going Old Testament with a Moses or a King David or King Solomon. Or skip the religious bullshit and get some great thinkers, like Newton, Galileo, Aristotle, Confucius, Socrates, Euclid, Averroes, Archimedes, Hippocrates, El Zahrawi, Jabir Ibn Haiyan, Da Vinci... and so many, many more. If you really want musicians, gimmie a Bach or a Beethoven or a Mozart over some bullshit rock artist who shot himself during a heroin overdose. Not that I don't love Cobain's stuff, but seriously, he didn't have shit on those guys. Or give me some extreme examples of charisma and strength of will. Guys who fused together giant empires. Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan, Napoleon Bonaparte, Asoka, Julius Caesar, Cyrus the II... What about some of the greatest explorers of the world who had a chance to see things as they were before the modernization "ruined" them? De Gama, Pizarro, Magellan, De Leon, De Soto, Coronado, Leif Ericson, Drake, Raleigh, Cabot, Lewis and Clark. On and on. And you really think the most interesting people you could bring back would be Cobain, Hendrix, and 2pac? (Like I said though, 2pac ain't dead.) |

As much as I respect classical music and world leaders from the past, I rather pick people that I would like to chill with. Can't chill with mass murders like Alexander or genghis.

Christ? Shouldn't it be requisite that the person exist in the first place? If we're going to bring to life story book characters, I can think of quite a few more interesting characters than him. |

While i think there was a man who was referred to as the Christ. There is no viable historical evidence to support he being a man named Jesus or from the area of Nazareth. Four documents exist that are often pointed to by Christians, 3 refer to "Christ" the title only and give no name, and the 4th that mentions him by name was proven to be a fake hundreds of years ago. A find the ultimate irony that if anyone actually studied the "teachings of Jesus" it would be clear he opposed centralized religious power, especially corrupt religious power. Funny how the modern church built in his name, is exactly what he wouldn't have liked to see. |

The biggest thing is that the religion about him is nothing like what he actually preached, being a Jew and all. Christianity is actually pretty anti-Semitic, thanks to the likes of Luke and Paul, who of course never even met Jesus. (or rather, whoever picked all their books to be canon, when it comes to the LONG run, although Paul was probably the most influential Christian preacher ever, regardless.) But yeah, I think Jesus definitely existed, he was just such a small timer that he didn't even make it into any of the Roman records. Which really shows the power of a handful of motivated people telling tall tales to spread an idea. Oh, and I suppose I should pick an actual set of 3 people. 1. Muhammad for one, cause I think he would tell off those dipshit fundies who suicide bomb kids and civilians, and if he were to do that, I think that would have the single biggest effect on our world today out of all the possible people you could pick to come back. 2. Leif Ericcson, so he could tell off every dipshit in America who still recognizes Columbus Day as having any significance whatsoever. 3. It's tough, cause I really want to pick a great thinker, or maybe a guy like DaVinci, but in the computer world... I just don't know what they'd still have to contribute. A great philosopher might be fun to sit around and pick brains with though. I think I'm just going to take a side out though and go with Moses. It'd be interesting to hear his oral history of the Jewish people compared to the first 5 books of the Bible we have today. If not him, I think Genghis Khan would be a pretty badass drinking buddy. Him and Leif together would be a pretty bitchin party me thinks. |

Humanity as a whole could use alot less religion, really dont need to bring back the 'founders', cept possibly to tell people 'hey, u got it all wrong' I'll stick to the people who actually might help us out as a species, Einstein, Tesla , and uuhh hawking, though he's not quite dead yet, just mostly. |
