So you're saying Diablo II is an MMO? It's got thousands of players all on the same bnet servers, playing multiplayer. It's even an RPG. People these days all try to say "MMOs are nothing but glorified chat rooms -- look at general and trade in WoW..." Well fuck, DiabloII has a few big chat channels in between your "instance" runs... so, must be an MMO then, right? Nothing about a 5 man instance is massive. Nothing about a 10 man is massive. Nothing about a 25 man is massive. The only thing massive about a 40 man instance is the headache it takes trying to fit everyone into the schedule and balance the classes. There is nothing massive about a theme park MMO filled with instances. Nothing at all.

And holding off those assaults mattered WHY exactly? Because otherwise Order could disrupt like... what? 12 hours? 24? 48 even? A real PvP game won't have fixed factions. When one group gets too strong, people will begin to align against them, and you get to experience some of the most absolutely epic wartime adventures you could ever expect from an MMO. You seriously have no idea what you're missing out on by thinking shitty theme park games with no death penalty actually make PvP better than something with true consequence and TRUE freedom of action.
Again, for what? 2 days tops? Maybe even 3 before it all resets? Certainly not more than a week. And there's absolutely no WAY they'd effect you for a month or more like they should.

Sounds like you are a scared carebear bitch with no confidence in his skills to me. And apparently no friends and no ability to make friends if you're so worried about it being a numbers game. Believe it or not, games with high death penalties have FAR, FAR more staredowns and standoffs with no fighting than any stupid pointless ganking game like WoW or WAR. When you have something to lose by dying, you be careful who and whose friends put you on their shitlist. You don't just gank every person you see. There is actual tact and politics involved. And believe it or not, a COMMUNITY. Which is what MMOs are all about. Or you can play an "MMO" full of instances, fixed factions with no cross-faction communication. Never talk to anyone not wearing your guild tag, aside from screaming faggot at people who's gameplay you don't like in your random BG/scenario instance group. And you actually talk to people on the other side -- or potentially on the other side -- and try to get them on YOUR side. It's really quite a novel idea. Oh wait, no I'm sorry. I'm just trollin khatib, for the most part I agree with you, and I'm too drunk atm to really put any more effort into prodding you.. I do wish death penalties were much more severe, and I agree that WAR is a carebear mmo... I still really don't care for 1st person view though, it was great in Marrowwind (even though in elder scrolls 3 you had the option of 3rd person), but Marrowwind wasn't an MMO... |

I usually ran around in 3rd person in Morrowind and then switched to first person to fight. So I know what you're saying about it, and it will take some adjustment to get used to it all the time, but I think it truly will bring a lot to the game tactically, and even "skill" wise, as only the better players will be able to retain good battlefield awareness while limited to 1st person view. |

Well fuck it, I just preordered, even though the price tag was steep as shit for a single, unproven game... But oh well. That's what happens when you gotta buy something in Euros I guess. I'll let you guys know if beta turns out to be good or not, and if this game looks half as good in person as it does on paper or not. |
